That's Volcán Llaima fuming in the background and volcanic rock in the foreground. The Andes include many active volcanos. This is in Parque Nacional Huerquehue in Chile. The Southern half of the park has been paved over with volcanic rock many times, courtesy of Llaima, and the northern end is lush forest.
